3rd SquashDrive Slam is the most successful yet
Supporters raise over $100,000!
Last week, supporters from around the Bay Area came together to compete on the squash court and raise money for SquashDrive through the organization’s annual SquashDrive Slam.
The two-day event was a huge success, kicking off with a pro-doubles exhibition which matched Preston Quick (world #19) and Mark Talbott (former world #1, hardball) against Andres Vargas (world #26) and Busani Xaba (University Club pro). Following the match, SquashDrive supporters attended a cocktail party at the University Club. The party was a hit with highlights including poetry presentations from SquashDrivers and a keynote speech from City Squash alumna Jessenia Pacheco.
The Saturday team tournament was filled with many fierce battles—singles and doubles—from the eight Bay Area teams. Team SquashDrive, captained by board chair Stephen Seelbach and board member James Ford, emerged victoriously, beating the University Club Warriors in a tight final.
The real winning, though, was on the fundraising side with a whopping $102,625 raised overall. Thank you to all of our supporters for their commitment to SquashDrive and changing the lives of underserved Oakland youth!
