QuestBridge Scholarship Recipient: Fernanda Berkeley High Class of 2021

Fernanda is a senior at Berkeley High School passionate about immigration reform and biology. During her sophomore year, Fernanda applied and was accepted to Lakhani Scholars, a highly selective scholarship which awarded her $10,000 of private college coaching services over the past three years. With the support of her coaches at Lakhani and SquashDrive, Fernanda applied to QuestBridge. QuestBridge is a college match program for high achieving low-income students. Students rank up to 12 partner universities and if they match they receive a full scholarship without loans for four years. Fernanda was one of 1,464 students who matched through QuestBridge, earning a coveted spot at Rice University in Houston.

“So much time and effort from various parties was put into achieving this outcome. I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity and to have had all the support that I did. I would like to thank my parents for supporting me in any way they could, Hafeez Lakhani for being the best mentor, and Hannah Elbaum for our weekly check ins where she assured me that everything would be okay. I can’t wait to see what the next four years at Rice will teach me!”
