Lauren Patrizio Xaba, Founder & Executive Director
Lauren founded SquashDrive in August of 2009 and began serving students in the spring of 2010. As a student at the University of Pennsylvania, Lauren was a two-time All-American squash player, playing on the national championship team in 2000, and captaining the team the following year.
Lauren graduated with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School with a Management Concentration. After graduation, Lauren worked for Comcast-Spectacor, SCORE Educational Center, and Washington Mutual in marketing, sales, and project management.
Lauren sits on the University of Pennsylvania Squash Board and is very involved in Northern California Squash and Racquet Association. Lauren grew up in Philadelphia and lives in San Francisco.
Kerry Fliss, Program & Development Director
Kerry joined SquashDrive in Spring 2016 as Program & Development Director. Having spent four years working with MetroSquash, a sister program based in Chicago, she brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role.
Prior to joining the urban squash and education movement, Kerry spent fifteen years working in communications at a number of world-class ad agencies. She also ran an independent consulting practice where she advised Boards of Directors in the education and arts communities. Kerry graduated from Queen’s School of Business and currently lives in San Francisco. She is a squash enthusiast and looks forward to spending time on court with the students.
Sarah Warhaftig, Program Director
Sarah joined SquashDrive in August of 2017 as Program Director. Prior to joining the Urban Squash movement, Sarah spent over 12 years working in youth development for the United States Olympic Committee, the YMCA, Brown Girl Surf and four different schools around the country. Sarah comes to us from her most recent job as the founding director of a new charter school in Vallejo.
Sarah graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts with a degree in Economics and Management.
A former professional racquetball player, Sarah is a two-time defending Colorado State Champion and was ranked 18th on the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour.
Pamela Larromana, Squash & Community Director
Pamela joined Squash Drive in April 2015. Pamela coordinates the Squash Program for SquashDrive, supporting volunteers to have a positive and fun experience as well as teaching technique, movement and all aspects of the squash game to our students.
Pamela played varsity squash for Trinity College for 4 years and grew up playing for Mexico’s National Junior Team. She graduated with a B.A. in International Studies and has a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration. Prior to joining SquashDrive, Pamela was the Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Squash teams at St. Lawrence University.
Efrain Carrillo, High School Coordinator
Efrain joined SquashDrive in the Spring of 2016 as a volunteer tutor. He was hired in August of 2016 to take on the role of Academic Coordinator, and then promoted to High School Coordinator in August of 2017. As High School Coordinator, Efrain is responsible for supporting our high schoolers in school, squash, and generally in their lives. Efrain also manages and runs our College Prep Program. Originally from the Los Angeles area, he recently graduated from UC Berkeley where he received a B. A. in English.
Although Efrain has no prior background in the sport of squash, he is an avid athlete and is looking forward to getting into the swing of things on the squash courts.
Sean Towers, Middle School Coordinator
Sean joined SquashDrive in October 2017. As Middle School Coordinator, Sean is responsible for supporting our middle schoolers in academics, squash, and community service outings. Originally from Modesto, Sean is an experienced tutor with a B.A. in Anthropology from U.C. Santa Barbara.
While Sean has little experience with squash, he has a coaching background and is eager to learn the sport.
